THE STORY OF FAT BEAR!
Hi everyone! I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and my family and how Fat Bear started.
My name is Cindy, I am originally from Saginaw, MI and moved to Bay City, MI when I was 20. I work full-time as a Tax and Accounting Manager for a agricultural lending facility. I have been there for almost 12 years! My husband, Matt, is a union pipefitter who grew up in Bay City. 6 years ago (2014) Matt and I had a crazy idea to move to the country (Pinconning) right before the birth of our first son, Cullen. Two years later, we welcomed Theo and thought our family was complete! In February of 2020 we got a big surprise! Baby number 3 is coming in October.
While on maternity leave with Theo I thought it would be SO fun to be able to make shirts for him for all of his “firsts”. I researched all of the equipment I would need, read a bagillion blogs, watched tons of you tube videos, and joined every Facebook group I could find about starting your own business. Then finally in August, 2017 Fat Bear Designs began!
Fat Bear Designs was named by our older son Cullen; he was 2 1/2 at the time. I said to him “We need to pick a name for mommy’s new business”. His response, “no mom, we just watch Fat Bear” (Fat Bear is what he calls his favorite movie, Open Season). I said, “but mommy needs a name”. Cullen rolled his eyes and said “it’s just Fat Bear mom, I love the Fat Bear”.
It has now been three years and I am still LOVING designing and creating graphic Ts for both moms and their kiddos! All of Fat Bear Designs shirts are now even branded with our iconic logo, a little bear head in the corner of every shirt we print.
